Alek Parker too long ago to remember, Santa Cruz.
Window seats are great for photography, but horrible for drinking. Glad this shot over the Philippines worked out better for me than my two neighbors.
A window into two different Filipino worlds. It was quite a treat to explore the rich coral reefs with my SPL over under port.
Big Sur camping/photography mission with Timmy Reyes. Turned out the next morning while in the middle of nowhere we had been shooting into another camper’s area all night. Luckily the nice Vietnam vet didn’t sling any of his close-by arrows at us — considering he said he initially thought he was having flashbacks of grenades going off. Good bloke though, kinda reminded me of my pops, once we had broke the ice.
“Fly Pelican” -Al Pacino, Scarface. Surfer: anonymous. Natural Bridges, Santa Cruz California.
A birds eye view of Central Coast crops feeding into “red triangle ” a-frames.
Artsy salt squirt.
Over under symmetry in the Philippines.
Our home galaxy…..for now muhahahaha.
The epitome of my Instagram account: @surfingthemoon
Moonset over Año Nuevo island — and home office to the men in grey suits.
All is right with the universe. Dane don’t tow and Colombo sucks up the rope — instead of the usual…
Deep west swells at Ghost Tree. Or wait, I was demanded by the warchildesqe boy to address it as “Pescadero Point”.
DO NOT TREASPASS. Oregon.
The oldest heir to the Rockhold throne: Matt “Rocky” Rockhold boosts over the sun. This family has the bloodline of champions, with father Steve playing professional basketball for the Golden State Warriors and brother Luke currently fighting for the UFC middleweight title belt in December. Hard work pays off kids and the Rockholds exude that in everything they do.
Only appropriate that Method Man and Red Man we’re seeing “how high” they could get while smoking/rocking out my local Santa Cruz concert hall.
A single frame from my timelapse film “In Search of Night.” Dedicated to revisiting some of my deceased father’s favorite areas and finding myself amongst only the star and moonlight. Out of the tens of thousands of individual photos to make this project this was a personal favorite. I love the obscured window framing our universe.
Pete Mel and the culmination of a dream, perfect timing, and a lucky frame of film. While swimming I poached the light from Nelly’s flash and the secondary flash in the jacks to create this rare frozen moment in time. I love how much depth and dimension this photo has. Definitely a crowd and personal favorite due to the sheer difficulty and uniqueness.
A love story in the night sky with green comet lovejoy chasing after the Seven Sisters of Pleiades. Viewed from Big Sur California.
Jason “Rat Boy” Collins always slaying it. One of many progressive pioneers to come out of Santa Cruz.
Shaper Bill “Stretch” Riedel trout tickling at his home in the Santa Cruz mountains. Putting the best boards under the best surfers feet, this guys talent runs deep. Always a classic time hanging around with Stretch.
Steamer Lane and her lovely lady lumps flashing the passing by gawkers.
Getting high on the West Side with a little help from my pilot friend. Thanks Joey. Hands down the 2015 day of the year in Santa Cruz from a perspective that will never tire.
“Tuolumne River Acid Drops.” Part of my psychedelic Sierra Series, influenced by Timothy Leary.
There will never be another Barney. NOT EVEN CLOSE! There are some people who come into this world just existing, not Shawn. Shawn had a profound effect on everyone he came across. Treating all with equal respect and compassion, this is how he lived each and everyday. He left us far too soon but through his actions his spirit will always be close to so many hearts. Thank you for everything Shawn, we love you. Smile like Barney, its good for the soul.
The outpouring of love from our community when Barney passed was like nothing I have ever seen. I felt it my due diligence try to capture a special shot of my friends memorial and this was the only night that the heavens shone down while the shrine was in full bloom. With the lights at the Lane blaring too bright to capture the stars I used my best ninja skills to black out all the surrounding lamps to get this desired shot. A night of remberence I will never forget and a friend who’s legend I will pass on to future generations. Hope you like the photo 9Barn.
