Girl We Adore: Langley Fox Presented by Amuse Society

“If I don’t laugh at my outfit a little bit each morning, I’ll change.” Langley Fox told us this on the roof of the Ace Hotel after the World Premiere of Cluster. She was of course dressed impeccably, with just enough giggle. That night, it was a polka dot dress. Just perfection. And while Langley has a lot of things going on worth talking about — being perfectly put together, adorable and smart, stylish and charismatic, bad ass and hot, all while dating the multi-talented homie of ours Austyn Gillette — she’s also one of the best artists we’ve ever ever seen.

She draws really fucking well.

“I’ve taken a break from doing commissioned work. I’ve made myself do what I want for a minute. I was getting tired of everybody else’s ideas. I just want to do my own weird things right now. I wanna kill more people with arrows, splatter blood out, dread their hair, stop making nice things.”

There she is. Langley grew up in Idaho. And is from a pretty damn strong blood-line (her real last name is Hemingway. Yes, that one.) She lives in LA. Is fascinated by nature and is sometimes a model. She also probably has more tattoos than you if you count them up. Oh, and she’s killed two children with an arrow via ball point pen drawing.

She started drawing in kindergarten. Most of us probably started drawing in kindergarten too. With stick people. But Langley started with star people. Which is the first sign she had a much more creative outlook than most of us. As our stick people faded into spreadsheets, Langley’s star people turned into photorealistic images. Which she’s done for everyone from Marc Jacobs to Maroon 5.

We recently spent the day with Langley to film and shoot an upcoming editorial. She let us take a look at some of her work, and we made her pose for a few photos. Stay tuned for more from Langley in What Youth Issue 12, and in our forthcoming Artists Series short films coming to WhatYouth.com soon.

And never forget: if your outfit doesn’t make you giggle. Change.

Girl We Adore: Natascha Elisa In Search of Sadie Presented by Amuse Society

Natascha Elisa doesn’t make any plans. Things just seem to happen. She recently caught the attention of Amuse Society and it’s easy to see why. As a model, a blogger, a philanthropist, a business mogul, Natascha doesn’t show signs of slowing down anytime soon. It began in Australia at age 15 when she was scouted…

Girl We Adore: Kayla Varley Both sides of the glass Presented by Amuse Society

Kayla Varley left the small town of Bakersfield, California and headed to L.A. at age 17, armed with her self-taught photography skills and a whole lot of angsty ambition. Inspired by the works of Lauren Greenfield and Sally Mann, Kayla‘s photographic style commands attention. It has a bold, fierceness we like. Gifted a point-and-shoot camera…

Girl We Adore: Maddy Relph A sexier world tour Presented by Amuse Society

This is Maddy Relph. She grew up in Australia and was the paper girl for Jourdan Bowen, who lived on the same street as her. Long story short, they have been together for 9 years now and one day in-between her modeling and his mining, they decided to bail. Photog and muse. On the run….

Girl We Adore: Rikki Barton Inspired by Kate Moss Presented by Amuse Society

This shoot was inspired by the historic shot of Kate Moss reading in the bathtub shot by Sante D’Orazio for Vogue Italia in 1995. And while you need say no more (you had us at Kate Moss), this ode to the icon photographed by Mark Powell caught our eye. The smokey-eyed-but-somehow-adorablely-sexy literati in her underwear…
