Photographer Quinn Matthews just walked in the door here at What Youth. Quinn is 18. Super talented. And up until now hadn’t been on too many surf trips. He was a green grom and we sent him into the wild. He went to Western Australia for 8 weeks to take photos and prove his worth to us. And the boy came home a man. He now has shark stories. Late night stories. 9-hour session stories. Hangout stories with Yadin Nicol, Craig Anderson, Ryan Callinan, Dillon Perillo, Kolohe Andino, Nate Lawrence, Kai, Nat Young and many more. He acquired a nickname (“Pinny”) thanks to Yadin’s son Corona. He kissed a girl or two. Had all sorts of wild tales from the dust and backroads and trunks of West Oz. All along with some incredible images.

We’ll be scouring his hard drive for a long time, but we’re pretty sure this kid is the real thing. And if not, he sure is fucking fun to hangout with. Stay tuned for much more from “Pinny.”
