PHOTO: Mark Oblow
Editor’s note: Mark Oblow usually rides up, on a motorcycle, with a beautiful woman (often his current photographic muse), several recent tales from the road and several tales from the past. Oblow has maintained the same boyhood zest and fascination with our lifestyle that he’s had since his early days and that has allowed him to continue being creative and documenting throughout his adult life. He is youth on the run defined, eternally.
We decided to dedicate a department on site and in our quarterly book to his incredible archive of moments. To begin the online portion is a photo hand picked by Oblow of Nathan Fletcher and Jason Dill in Palm Springs. Now that’s the beginning of a good story.-Travis
MARK OBLOW: “This photo was taken at the Merv Griffin Hotel in Palm Springs — now called The Parker Hotel. I remember this was the hotel Robert Downey JR. was at when he got busted for drugs back in the day. We actually asked for his room when we checked in but they declined.
It was the year 2000 and we were out there for a Quiksilver denim shoot. I shot it with a Canon EOS – 1.”
