Nick Lavecchia doesn’t exactly live in the hub of the surf world or industry. He doesn’t live near a big city where icons of stage and screen and fashion and surfing frequent. He lives in Maine. That lonely and beautiful state up in the tip top right of America. For years he’s invited some of our friends to visit, as well as traveled the world surfing and documenting in a very one-of-a-kind way, influenced and inspired from an entirely unique angle.
We recently called Nick and asked if he’d caption a few images that we thought summed up his very poetic photography style and give us some insight into them. What he’s submitted proves that we all have ways of interpreting things that comes with our own blends of background, location, equipment and influence to create something that stands out above the rest — and in a day and age when imagery is inundating our lives, you can still evoke real emotion and feeling in imagery.
