There is something about the female body that is so truly beautiful to me. I have started to enjoy a bit more abstract pieces of it in familiar environments. This image to me is about solitude and a quiet scolded personal moment of disconnection underwater.
The cover of Six Girls Six Cities self-published, hand-bound, 98 page 12” X 9.5” edition of 100. This body of work was actually first released in What Youth issue 6. A project where I photographed six girls in six different cities around the world on 60 rolls of 35mm film double exposing environments and girls who represented that city/culture.

Barbados 1. This new year I booked a last minute trip to Barbados to go explore, surf and shoot for no one but myself for a few days. The place is so fuckin rad — full of such flavor and culture. I get pretty burnt out on Instagram and posting normal shit so when I got back to the studio in NY I decided to create a few different walls of the work and photograph that. It made the process much more enjoyable for the hands and broke it up past just taking a photograph.

Untitltled from Cape Cod, MA. I like abstract still life’s when I can find them.
Untilted from the south of Chile. I guess this connects back to my first image. I enjoy trying to make beautiful but slightly off, weird almost eerie images. Sometimes that makes people feel off ease, making them look a bit deeper.
Cover of Talk Story self-published, 86 page, 12.5” x 10” edition of 555. This was my first book project released last summer in NYC with a small gallery show. This body of work is about the sub-culture of the North Shore in Hawaii that is anchored around John John Florence. I wanted to go dig deep in the colors, people and compositions that make that small piece of world that is highly watched what it really is. My goal was to go there and turn 180 degrees away from all the action and try to take it on in a different way. I spent about 8 weeks last winter there making the work.

Printing is a very large part of my creative process. Prints, or making books or even small zines involves a very meticulous editing processs that is very hands-on. In between larger book projects I try to make zines every month or so. This is the first volume of Get Gone which is now up to volume 5. The exercise for editing, and sequencing, as well as printing, is something that keeps me very involved and within close proximity of the work I’m making. Also another way to find out patterns in your work, both good and bad.

This is a current work in progress I’m working on this summer. An installation in nature in a variety of ways. Challenging the juxtaposition of polished world (fashion images I have made in studio or outside) verses raw world (nature here on a remote location in New England that is distant from that world).
