Rewind Me: Voluptuous: The Big Movie Jason Kenworthy’s ’90s anthem in its entirety

/ PRV

The intro to the movie sums it up best: there’s a tattoo, a punch, a hot ass and Kelly at Backdoor. More raw than Taylor Steele’s vids, all the antics of a classic …Lost vid, but a more exlcectic cast of characters and soundtrack. Voluptuous was the clincher vid on why surfing fucking ruled in the ’90s. There’s all sorts of gold in here, but if you’re a millennial and need to skip ahead, because vids in the ’90s are over an hour long, here’s some highlights you don’t want to miss:

1:47: Jay Larson’s shockingly good opener part.

7:03: Cory Lopez for the goofyfoots. Often overlooked but really gnarly.

24:15: A good ol’ wipeout part.

26:08: You must watch Just Matteson’s part. It’s wild. Minor Threat song nails it too.

36:30: Kelly’s part.

50:31: Bruce Irons’ part.

55:18: Andy Irons part. This part will give you goosebumps. AI style in it’s infancy, raw and perfect all at once.

1:05:14: Chris Ward’s ender part to part 1.

Post credits it’s a mashup of surf history, legends, icons, dudes you’ve never heard of and lots of Hawaii. All worth watching.

Rewind Me: Voluptuous An interview with Jason Kenworthy, the man behind one of the most underground, raw surf vids of the ’90s. Come back tomorrow for the whole movie in it’s entirety.

The ’90s were dominated by Taylor Steele. His videos were clean, had great music, few funny skits, always got you psyched. But it wasn’t the only game in town. There were also …Lost vids, and for the deeper collector: There was Voluptuous. Voluptuous had everyone in it and more. Plus one of the best soundtracks…
