Rewind Me: First Chapter With Dane Reynolds

With the perspective of nearly a decade, it’s now easy to say that Dane Reynolds 2006 film First Chapter is perfect. It brought his unique perspective and matched it with raw, punk, timeless and incredible surfing all over the world, all done before he could legally drink a beer. It features a soundtrack that is as perfect today as it was the day it came out. And was packaged with all the details and quirk that have made Dane the unique contributor to surf culture that he continues to be.

We recently went to Dane’s house with some old magazine articles, the film’s really rad packaging that was put together by Natas Kaupas when he was Quiksilver and reminisced as we went through the film and the time period. Enjoy a little perspective from Dane, and then get ready to screen the entire film right here and have a California Demise Christmas with us.

Watch First Chapter in it’s entirety at WhatYouth.com beginning Tuesday, December 23 at noon.

The ’90s were dominated by Taylor Steele. His videos were clean, had great music, few funny skits, always got you psyched. But it wasn’t the only game in town. There were also …Lost vids, and for the deeper collector: There was Voluptuous. Voluptuous had everyone in it and more. Plus one of the best soundtracks…
