Ozzie Wright.
I shot this photo of Dion on the last night of the Nti Sheeto trip. It was by far one of the best trips I have ever done. This was the first time I’d met Dion. The guy’s a legend! It was rad to see a surfer get behind a project, create it, and see it through. Although I heard he lost his mind during the edit and has turned into a lizard. Hope he pulls through.
Made ‘Bol’ Adi Putra. This was from a couple years back, I remember shooting this wave and thinking it wasn’t anything special and that it didn’t barrel that hard. When I checked the photos later on I was totally wrong!
Chippa Wilson. This was during the Kustom Airstrike. The waves were fun. Crappy for airs but real clear water so I just went out and shot some underwater stuff for a bit. There is something eerie about this photo.
The streets of Denpasar Bali. This is the morning markets shot in the afternoon. You can hardy get a motorbike down there during the morning there’s that many people.
Dede Suryana.
It’s a monkey drinking beer. I guess bananas just weren’t doing it for him.
Mega Semadhi. For how small this guy is, he charges harder than most guys on the island. This wave pretty much breaks on dry reef.
Mitch Coleborn. This was pulling into the harbor on a speed boat to get the ferry in the Mentawais. The boats engines were cooked and kept dying cause of water in the petrol and the stench of fumes on the thing almost made you want to get off and swim to the harbor.
We found this wave on the first boat trip I ever did with Benny Godwin and Damien Wills. We stumbled upon it by accident. When we first saw it, it was onshore and super fun for airs and then within 2 hours it started wedging off the cliff and doing this.
Lee Wilson Bali. This was the first time I’d ever shot 50mm in the water. It came out pretty rad. I’ve been shooting with Lee for years and this photo definitely stands out as one of the best we’ve got.
Craig Anderson at Desert Point. Its one of my favorite spots ever to swim fisheye but it gets pretty scary when it’s big cause the sets just come out of nowhere.
Kolohe Andino. This wave has some of the craziest back drops I’ve ever seen. Just the full on tropical paradise vibe. Throw in a surfer like Brother and you’re pretty much guaranteed something cool is going to come out of it.
Greyson Fletcher in Hawaii. Greyson’s a champ I remember first meeting him about 6 years ago in Bali. Its crazy to see how big he is going now.
Garut Widiarta Mentawais. This was during a surf contest at Macaroni’s. Garut’s keeping his sponsors happy with this one.
Dane Reynolds. This was the last day of the trip and we got caught in the biggest rainstorm. I managed to find some cover so I could keep shooting. The water was so clear there was still some color to the wave. This is one of my favorite bottom turn shots.
Made ‘Bol’ Adi Putra. This wave only breaks good about 3 times a year. It’s definitely one of my favorite for fisheye. It’s really short and intense. I like how you can see the exit of the barrel and where he’s going.
Creed Mctaggerd. This was at the airport on the way home from the Nti Sheeto trip. Our flight got delayed as usual and I was just trying to kill time by shooting photos. I really liked the way this one came out with his shadow on the wall.
Dane Reynolds.
Mega Semahdi. Mega’s style always looks so comftobale in the barrel. Here is no exception.
Dion Agius in Sumbawa. I never really see turn shots of Dion so I was pretty psyched on how this one came out. The rain clouds give it a cool feel too.
Ozzie is one of the raddest people I have ever met. He never has a bad word to say. Here he’s sitting on a really old plane that can barely got us back to Bali.
Chippa Wilson.
Chirs Ward at Uluwatu. It was super sketchy and I saw some of the heaviest wipe outs ever this day. Wardo only got 2 waves and this was his last. He went straight in and all I wanted to do was get back to the beach and check the photos. Instead of swimming the long safe way I tried charging it straight in over reef. A small one just slammed me hard onto dry reef. I had cuts all over my lower back and shoulder. It was worth it though. This is definitely one of my favorite photos I’ve ever shot.
I like how you can see Herbie getting the shoot in this photo. Greyson makes skating look so easy it does my head in!
Jim Banks, Indonesia. It’s cool how you can see the tail of his board and it’s even cooler how well he surfed that twin fin.
Ozzie Wright.
Bol and pig. This was during an annual ceremony in Bali called Galungan. Bol’s uncle had this pig for about 6 months getting it all fat. Feeding it everyday. Then all the members from Bol’s extended family got together slaughtered the pig. They killed it right on the side of the road where all these tourists were walking buy and they all started freaking out. I guess they never saw where their bacon came from.
I shot this photo of Bruce with Andy’s kid on my first ever trip to Hawaii. Its one of those shots where I just happened to be in the right place at the right time.
This is Mega Semadhi at a pretty fickle wave. It’s a tricky one to shoot if you don’t have a ski. I kinda kooked it on this trip and missed a few waves cause the boat kept breaking down. The boys hardly said a word to me the rest of the trip after this day. Eggy.
This is one of my really good friends Garut Widiarta. I shot this during his teeth filing ceremony. It’s a pretty brutal process cause files they use look like the ones you get at the hardware store!
Dane Reynolds in the Mentawais. This was on the last trip for Dear Suburbia.
The Fletchers. I shot this at the skate park on the North Shore. I met Christian and Greyson years ago in Bali and this was the first time I met Herbie. It was really interesting just to see how each of them had such different personalities and I ike how that shows in this photo.
